Air Purifiers
Air purifiers reduce airborne particles such as dust, pollen, and pet dander. This category covers HEPA units for bedrooms and living rooms, models sized for open-plan spaces, and units with activated carbon for odor. We prefer independently verified clean air delivery rate figures over marketing coverage numbers, since the two often disagree, and we note which certification scheme a figure comes from. Filter cost over three years, noise on the sleep setting, and whether a unit requires a proprietary filter all affect our ratings. We avoid health claims entirely. A purifier moves particles out of the air. It does not treat allergies or asthma, it does not protect against viruses, and it is not a substitute for source control such as vacuuming and humidity management.
