Home Clean Guide is an independent publisher of buying guides and product roundups for home cleaning equipment and supplies. We cover the machines and products people actually keep in the closet: vacuums, floor care machines, everyday cleaning supplies, air purifiers and dehumidifiers, and the tools that handle everything in between.
The site exists because buying a vacuum or a carpet cleaner has become unreasonably hard. Search for almost any category and you get manufacturer copy rewritten, lists with no stated criteria, and rankings that quietly follow commission rates. We wanted a resource that says what it looked at, what it did not look at, and who a product is wrong for.
What we cover
Our coverage is deliberately narrow. Five areas, and nothing outside them:
- Vacuums, including robot, cordless stick, and upright models
- Floor care, meaning carpet cleaners, steam mops, and wet dry vacuums
- Cleaning supplies, from all purpose cleaners to laundry and pet stain removers
- Air care, covering air purifiers and dehumidifiers
- Cleaning tools, including pressure washers, mops, and brooms
Carpet and pets sit at the center of most of what we write, because they are what turns routine cleaning into a real problem. We do not cover kitchen appliances, consumer electronics, or furniture. Staying inside one subject is what lets us build comparable criteria across a category instead of rating everything against nothing.
Who we write for
We write for homeowners and renters in English speaking markets, not for one country. Most of what matters in this category travels well: suction, filtration, tank size, running cost, and whether a machine is a chore to clean all mean the same thing everywhere. What does not travel is model naming and availability, which differ between markets, so we say where a recommendation may not be purchasable and describe the type of product as well as the specific model.
Where a figure depends on a regional standard or certification, we name the body it comes from rather than presenting it as universal.
How we decide what to recommend
Recommendations come from research and structured comparison, not from guesswork. For each category we build a specification sheet covering the figures that matter for that product type, then score every model against the same criteria. We read manufacturer documentation, certification and standards bodies, published measurements from independent laboratories where they exist, and owner feedback at volume, which is where durability and service problems show up long before they reach a spec sheet.
Products we rate receive an HCG Score out of 10, built from five weighted criteria: cleaning performance, build quality, ease of use and maintenance, running cost, and value. The full formula and weighting are published on How We Review.
What we do not claim
We do not operate a laboratory, and we do not claim to have used every product we write about. Where a number comes from a manufacturer, we attribute it to the manufacturer. Where a measurement comes from a certifying body, we name that body. If a claim cannot be traced to a source, it does not appear here. We would rather describe a product qualitatively than publish a figure we cannot stand behind.
We also do not give medical advice or present any product as a treatment for a health condition. Air purifiers move particles. Cleaners remove soil. Claims about killing germs are regulated in most markets, under the EPA in the United States and equivalent bodies elsewhere, so we repeat them only for products carrying the registration their market requires, and we cite it.

Home Clean Guide is independently owned and operated. We are not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with any manufacturer or retailer of the products we cover. Manufacturers do not see articles before publication and cannot buy a placement, a score, or a favorable mention.
Every article is written, edited, and fact checked by a person before it is published, and a person is accountable for what appears.
